Millstone Meadows Daylily Farm, nestled in the NC foothills outside of Morganton,NC is a 20 year old daylily farm featuring over 1200 AHS recognized cultivars. New owners Mark and Sara Hord are now managing the farm, continuing the daylily business, adding new varieties and beginning to hybridize new varieties. They have also expanded the venture to include a variety of culinary herbs, cut flowers, goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes and other garden vegetables. Millstone Meadows Daylily Farm also has a line of note cards and Christmas cards featuring pictures from the scenic farm and is available for special events such as weddings, luncheons, garden events and tours. A culinary chef, Sara also offers gourmet catering both on and off premise and regularly features her many products, such as tomato sauces, herb gellees, Barn burner hot sauce, fresh baked breads and more, on Saturdays at the Fresh Freight Exchange, Morganton’s new farmers market. Sara is also hosting cooking classes at the farm which incorporate the garden and foods grown at Millstone Meadows. These are offered through an annual Farm Membership enabling members to be on the mailing list, which will include all events such as cooking classes, farmstead meals and wine tastings. A Daylily Festival is hosted in June during the peak daylily bloom season. The public is welcome to visit during the summer bloom months and enjoy food, festivities and flowers. Daylilies are for sale as well as other farm products all summer. Please contact Millstone Meadows Daylily Farm for more information on events and services or drop by and see our farm.
We are raising several varieties of farm animals, along with the flowers. Laying hens provide eggs daily, in many assorted colors. Dairy goats supply milk for Sara's cheeses. St. Croix sheep are now being raised for their rich milk for cheese as well as meat for the farm dinners. We are also raising hogs for meat as well/ All of our animals are protected by our wonderful Great Pyrenes dogs.
Below are a few pictures taken around our farm and barnyard.

Our farm also consists of a barnyard full of animals! We are raising Alpine and La Mancha dairy goats for Sara's newfound zest with cheese making. Our Farm Members purchase a variety of cheeses made here by Sara on a regular basis. Along with the goats, we are raising lambs for future farm dinners that we host. We also have Great Pyrenees dogs that are the guardians of the barn yard. Daisy Duke, our dam, gave birth to her first litter on Sara's birthday, October 1, so we are now raising pups that we will both keep and sell. We also have a variety of free-ranging chickens that lay the prettiest and best tasting eggs. Our catfish pond has crested mallard ducks and geese, which keep us entertained, and Charlie, our peacock, roams the farm daily and is quite beautiful when he is strutting his tail feather?
